Bill Hemmings is the programme manager at Transport & Environment (T&E) and leads a team working on reducing emissions from aircraft and ships.
Established in Brussels in 1990, T&E is the leading NGO promoting sustainable transport solutions through regulation in Europe and at United Nations bodies. Work on shipping focuses on the pressing need for the sector to reduce its carbon footprint and adopt efficiency measures and global GHG emissions reduction targets. Reducing ship air pollution is an imperative at the local level. T&E is an Observer to UNECE, through the Clean Shipping Coalition (CSC) an Observer to IMO, and through the International Coalition for Sustainable Aviation (ICSA) an Observer to ICAO.
Bill previously led American Express Business Travel Consulting in Europe, established eCLIPSE Advisors in Europe, held management positions at Cathay Pacific Airways and served in the Australian Foreign Service. He holds degrees from the University of Tasmania and Oxford.
